Quick Steamed Broccoli

This is one of those sides that my kids will actually eat and that I can throw together in about 5 minutes. I usually roast my veggies, but sometimes steaming is the way to go! Give this one a try when you are in a hurry. It works for cauliflower, too!

Ingredients
1 head broccoli, cleaned and separated into uniform-sized pieces
1/2 cup water
sea salt
freshly ground black pepper

Preparation

  1. Place broccoli in a large microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Cover with a paper towel, then with plastic wrap. 
  3. NOTE: The paper towel helps the plastic from leaching chemicals into your food.
  4. Microwave on high for 4 minutes or until broccoli is crisp-tender.
  5. Remove from microwave. Carefully remove and edge of plastic wrap and drain the water. 
  6. Transfer to a serving bowl and season with salt and pepper, if desired.
